In a highly-contested category comprising a shortlist of editors from renowned publications including Autocar, Classic Car Weekly, 5054, Motor1 and What Car?, Company Car Today’s very own Paul Barker was crowned 2018 Automotive Editor of the Year.

Congratulating Paul on winning this highly contested category, Tim Bowdler, editorial director, Newspress said “Launching a new magazine in the current publishing climate is a bold move, indeed. Walking out of a secure job to do so is even braver. Creating a magazine that makes money, attracts blue chip advertisers and is perfectly targeted is an incredible achievement.”

Receiving the award, Barker said: “This achievement validates what we set out to achieve with Company Car Today – proving there is a place for high-quality business publishing serving the increasingly important UK fleet and business sector.”

Held at The Brewery in London’s Chiswell Street, the 2018 Newspress Awards also included a black-tie dinner and entertainment featuring comedian Paul Chowdhry and, returning for his third Newspress Awards, ‘voice of the balls’ Alan Dedicoat, who oversaw proceedings.

Company Car Today’s success at the 2018 Newspress Awards follows hot on the heels of receiving the 2017 Automotive Editor of the Year at the Guild of Motoring Writers Awards in November 2017.

Dave Wallace, Company Car Today publisher and Managing Director of Automotive Media & Events commented “Launching Company Car Today in April last year, our vision was to bring a fresh and engaging new title to the UK fleet sector.  Receiving the 2018 Newspress Award for Automotive Editor of the Year following on from our success at the 2017 GoMW awards, is not only fantastic recognition of the quality of Company Car Today, but recognition of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes from all of those involved in producing an award winning publication”Paul Barker (left) receiving the 2018 Newspress Award for Automotive Editor of the Year
