Fleet of fancy Get the unfleety on to your f leet... WHY SHOULD I WANT IT? The baby of BMW’s full-blown M car range, the M2 is definitely worthy of the badge. This Competition model replaced the standard one, enjoying an all-new 410hp 3.0-litre engine and further tuning to the chassis. That makes it even more entertaining to drive, and while the performance is brutal, it’s still usable on public roads without being too silly. WHY CAN’T I HAVE IT? It’s a £50,000 2-Series Coupe, which is a fair chunk of cash, even if it is for a very capable machine. The extra £2645 for the DCT auto cuts emissions by 17g/km, although the manual is probably the better of the two transmissions from a driver’s perspective. ARGUMENTS TO USE ON THE FLEET MANAGER It’s a touch more practical that rivals such as the Porsche 718 Cayman or Alpine A110 thanks to the rear seats and decent 390-litre boot. It also looks the part, with the bigger bumpers and quad pipes, but without being too brashly stand-out. Paul Barker PRICE £51,925 POWER 410hp PERFORMANCE 4.2 seconds/ 155mph (limited) COMBINED MPG 29.1mpg CO 2 209g/km THE FACTS MORE FLEETY ALTERNATIVE Save £17,000 and you can knock the CO 2 emissions figure down to 135g/km and still have a 252hp petrol BMW 2-Series coupe that can accelerate to 62mph in 5.6 seconds. The 230i also has a 225d M Sport sibling that gets emissions down to 124g/km, but that 224hp car is a touch more expensive that the more powerful 230i.
