Nissan reveals new X-trail

Nissan X-Trial 2021The new Nissan X-trail will arrive in the UK in summer 2022, coming with the option of seven seats and using Nissan’s new e-Power ‘self-charging’ hybrid system that will first come to the new Qashqai.

The powertrain is described as a “powertrain innovation for customers who are not ready to embrace a full electric vehicle,, but want to enjoy the advantages of an electrified powertrain.

The fourth generation of the company’s SUV will join a refreshed line-up that includes the Juke, launched in late 2019, as well as the new Ariya electric SUV and new Qashqai, both coming later this year.

First pictures: Mercedes-Benz EQB

Mercedes-Benz EQB 2021Mercedes has revealed its second electric car inside three days with the release of the first images of its EQB electric small SUV.

Arriving in the UK late this year, the seven-seater will initially come in EQB 300 and EQB 350 forms, with a wider selection of powertrains in the pipeline. Mercedes said a “particularly long-range version is also planned”.

Full details of range and power figures is still to be revealed, along with pricing, but the brand is quoting an official range figure of up to 260 miles for the EQB 350 4Motion. The company is also yet to reveal boot space, apart from saying that the maximum available with the five rearmost seats all folded is 1710 litres, which is 95 litres less than the petrol or diesel GLB models that the EQB is closely related to.

SUV concept previews new EV Toyota

Toyota bZ4X concert 2021Toyota has previewed its forthcoming electric SUV model due next summer, with the bZ4X Concept described as the first in a series of battery electric vehicles from the brand.

The name is an abbreviation of “beyond zero”, which the company said “reinforces Toyota’s commitment not only to achieving zero carbon emissions and carbon neutrality, but also going beyond to realise new benefits for the environment, for individuals and for society as a whole.”

According to the company, the bZ4X is “more than just a means of transport”, describing it as “a comfortable and connected space where people can enjoy spending time together on a journey”.
