Kia signs 75-Picanto deal with meals-on-wheels firm
Kia has delivered the first of 75 Picanto models to meals-on-wheels provider Hertfordshire Independent Living Service.
The UK’s largest not-for-profit provider of its kind, the organisation delivers more than half a million meals per year, and operates from four sites, and chose the Company Car Today CCT100 City Car of the Year for its fleet because of its practicality, affordability and seven-year/100,000-mile warranty.
“The Kia Picanto has really impressed us and despite having previously having a fleet of city cars, the Picanto itself far exceeds other vehicles we have relied, on and suits our needs despite the large volumes of food we deliver on a daily basis,” said Phil Martin, Director of Resources at HILS.
Lexus and Mercedes top Aston Barclay desirability list
Auction company Aston Barclay has developed a new used car desirability index, using the metrics of web views prior to a sale, physical and online bids per sale and the value achieved versus Cap figures to develop a ranking.
The hybrid Lexus NX topped the table, just ahead of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and GLC models, with the Audi Q5, Tesla Model 3, Mercedes GLE, Kia Niro hybrid, Jaguar F-Pace, VW T-Roc and Seat Arona rounding out the top 10.
Of the top 25, 14 are classed as SUVs, while the only smaller cars to appear are the Mazda MX-5, BMW 2-Series and Mini Clubman.
BVRLA issues CAZ reminder ahead of Birmingham launch
The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association has launched a new web guide at www.cleanarirzones.co.uk to help fleets keep track of the different Clean Air Zone plans for cities and regions across the country, with, among others, Birmingham’s zone set to go live next Tuesday 1 June and the London zone expanding on 1 October 2021.
The Birmingham plan charges vehicles not meeting Euro6 diesel or Euro4 petrol emissions standards for entering a city centre zone, which could account for around 60% of the 200,000 vehicles entering the zone each day.
Bath launched its Clean Air Zone earlier this year, and the BVRLA said zones in Bristol, Bradford, Portsmouth, Greater Manchester, Newcastle, Gateshead and North Tyneside are also imminent.
