Afternoon round-up: top-end Mercs, ACFO nominations call, Fiat pick-up and scrappage


Mercedes launches flagship S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet variants

Mercedes has revealed a pair of luxury spinoffs from the S-Class saloon. The Cabriolet and Coupe are, as the names suggest, open-top and fastback versions of the existing model.

Mercedes S-Class coupe 2017The latter is available as a comparatively sedate S560, with a 3.0-litre 367hp V6 petrol engine, promising 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds, 204g/km of CO2 and 31.7mpg.

Both versions come in high-performance AMG S63 and AMG S65 guise, both with 4.0-litre V8 engines and the latter also as a 6.0-litre V12. In both the Coupe and the cabriolet, the 612hp AMG 65 is capable of 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds.

The manufacturer did not confirm UK prices for the new models.

Last chance to nominate fleet specialists for ACFO awards

Nominations for the 34th annual ACFO awards close tomorrow but there is still time for businesses to put forward their favourite suppliers and vehicles prior to the ceremony at St Johns Hotel Solihull on 16 November.

The categories are:

  • Fleet safety initiative/service of the year
  • Small van of the year
  • Large van of the year
  • Ultra-low emission vehicle of the year
  • Fleet car of the year

Fiat Professional announces Fullback cross prices and scrappage scheme

Fiat’s LCV arm, Fiat Professional, has announced prices for the new, top-end Cross version of its Fullback pick-up, which will start at £26,495 (excluding VAT) for the 2.4 180hp manual version.

Aimed squarely at the so-called lifestyle commercial sector, the model features a series of exterior styling features and interior luxuries, including dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, rear parking sensors, leather seats and steering wheel, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, sat-nav, a DAB radio and Bluetooth.

Fiat Professional has also announced a scrappage scheme for “any petrol and diesel car or van registered before 31 December 2009” that runs until 30 September and offers up to £5,500 off a Fullback, up to £6,500 off a Fiorino, up to £8,500 against a Doblo, up to £10,500 off a Talento and up to £13,500 against a Ducato.Fiat_Fullback_Cross 2017
