New EV charging site
Energy company Gridserve has started construction on an electric vehicle charging site in Essex which will be capable of recharging 24 vehicles at once.
Located near Braintree, the firm said the site uses 350Kw chargers, enabling vehicles to be recharged in half an hour, and the company said it is the first of 100 charging sites that it plans to build in the UK.
A spokesman for the company was unable to provide details of how much will cost EV owners to recharge at the site when contacted by Company Car Today. The spokesman also confirmed the charging points would not be built by Gridserve, but declined to name the manufacturer.
Ioniq Hybrid added to Ubeeqo fleet
Ubeeqo, Europcar’s car-sharing arm, has added the Hyundai Ioniq hybrid onto its fleet in response to customer demand as the number of members doubled last year.
It will be available in Croydon, Islington, Lewisham, Kensington & Chelsea, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest and Wandsworth from March 2020.
“As we continue to provide a genuine alternative to car ownership, the Ioniq hybrid is an exciting addition to our fleet,” said Patrick Cresswell, managing director of Ubeeqo UK. “With its introduction, we are increasing both availability and choice for the growing number of motorists who are choosing to move away from the expense of car ownership, as well as help reduce congestion on our roads.”
Vauxhall launches tyre service
Vauxhall is introducing a service which will enable drivers of any vehicle – regardless of whether it is a Vauxhall or not – to purchase tyres and arrange fittings at a local dealer via the firm’s website.
Customers need to enter their postcode, in addition to their vehicle registration or tyre size and they are then presented with their vehicle and asked to select their desired tyre size.
Once the customer selects the tyre size, their local retailers are displayed clearly on a map. After choosing their preferred dealership, they are presented with the various available tyre options, the firm said.
