Range-topping Touareg revealed

Range-topping touareg

Volkswagen has added a range-topping model to its Touareg SUV line-up.

The R model has been developed by Volkswagen’s performance arm and is the first ‘R’ model to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which comprises a 340hp V6 petrol engine mated to a 136hp electric motor and a four-wheel drive system.

Prices and an on-sale date are yet to be announced.

New Nissan Leaf trim

LEAF eplus N-TEC

Nissan has added a new trim level to its Leaf EV which helps to lower the price of the longer-range 62kWh model.

Up until now, the long-range model was only offered in the top-spec Tekna grade. The new N-Tec trim level, which is limited to 1,000 units, is based on the N-Connecta grade and adds LED lights, the firm’s ProPilot system, an electronic parking brake, a front splitter and a revised suspension set-up.

It is priced from £32,795 OTR (including the £3,500 Government Grant.

Meanwhile, Gloucestershire’s police force has taken delivery of 75 electric Nissan vehicles, with the order comprising of 66 Leafs and nine E-NV200 vans, with 11 Leafs set to be marked vehicles.

Its use of the cars is part of a five-year plan from Gloucestershire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Martin Surl to create ‘a green and pleasant county’, and ensure that Gloucestershire Constabulary operates in a way which is as responsible and sustainable as possible, the force said.

Toyota launches Professional arm

TOYOTA PROFESSIONAL

Toyota has launched its Professional programme which is aimed at fleets with up to 50 vans on their books.

As part of the service programme, a five-year warranty is offered on all LCVs along with five years of roadside assistance.

The firm also said it will guarantee customers a service appointment within seven days, with the promise that if that target cannot be met, the labour charge will be halved.

Mark Roden, Toyota operations director, said: “For many people, their vehicle is essential to their business. With Toyota Professional we will help them keep on the move so they in turn can keep their customers happy. With the arrival of Proace City, our range will cover the second largest segment in the LCV market, helping us reach a much-wider customer base with a product that boasts best-in-class performance and load-carrying abilities. Toyota Professional will help us maximise its potential and strengthen our relationship with new and existing customers.”
