With the abolition of the paper counterpart, the DVLA has taken its license checking online. Click this link to go straight to the agency’s site, and a driver can pull up details of penalty points and other licence information. The sites requires your Driving License number, National Insurance number and postcode, and will then generate a PDF and a single-use code that can be given to fleet managers, vehicle rental companies or other relevant parties to prove a driver’s eligibility and legality.
Fleet managers or rental operators can check a driver’s licence details, penalty points and vehicle eligibility using the code a driver has created, along with the last eight digits of their driver licence number. Codes last for 21 days and each can only be used once, though multiple codes can be created.
